    10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Our bus will depart from the BHWC parking lot at 10 AM and head to the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University in Malibu. We will meet with gallery director and professor Michael Zakian; who, together with Mumsey Nemiroff, will guide us through the exhibit.

Larry Bell was a founder of the California Light and Space art movement in the 1960’s.  Since then he has pushed the boundaries of perception and technology in his on-going quest to explore light and how we see.  As the artist says, “My work is about the properties of light and the way it interacts with surfaces; it’s about volume and illusion.”

The focus of the Pepperdine exhibition is Pacific Red, Bell’s homage to Malibu with its setting suns and red skies.  In addition we will view an historical survey of Bell’s work from the 1950s forward.  Bell currently live and works in both Taos, New Mexico and Venice Beach.

We will stop at Tra di Noi in Malibu for lunch before returning to BHWC.
